Who do you think is leading the Korean music charts right now? If you look at their Billboard 100, you might have expected as I did for BTS to be at the top. However, that’s not the case, at least for the moment. As of the writing of this article, the last single put out by BTS stands at #7 on the charts.
Of course, the rankings are always changing. Right now, Got7 has the #1 song, which is Lullaby. Have you heard this song yet? That’s how the songs are ranked in Korea, but then, of course, you can check the charts globally in reference to Korean music, too. For example, which of the KPop songs are the most popular in the US?
That is where you might find that BTS is ranked #1. BTS is really popular in Korea, too, though. I’ve identified where BTS is on the charts, and I told you the #1 single and group. But what about the rest of the rankings? Let’s look at some more of them.
Sunmi has the #2 ranked song, which is Siren. Roy Kim has the #3 ranked song, which is The Hardest. Goodbye comes in at #4, and that is by the group Punch. Shaun and I are Chang Jung have the #5 and #6 songs respectively. Do you recognize these artists and groups?
To be honest, the only one I recognize is BTS. I’m not as up on KPop music as I should be. I do like it though, and I’ve heard more than just BTS songs. I’m just not up with all the music because you really have to get in there and take time to listen. I just haven’t had the time right now.
I did see BTS perform Idol, and I’ve seen them perform other songs on TV, too. When I first heard KPop, I was actually surprised that I liked it so much. I kind of figured it wouldn’t be my taste in music, but I like all kinds of music. I actually should have known that I would like it for sure or at least be open to learning more about it.

There are some great bands and individual artists with great songs. how long will Lullaby stay at #1? I actually just listened to Lullaby, and it’s good. I like the songs I’ve heard from BTS better.
One thing I noticed about KPop, too, is that when you watch the music videos, you get to see the English words while you hear the Korean words. I think that is really cool, and you got to love the way they dance!
